So, I have been teaching for two weeks. Why haven't I written anything about these two weeks you ask? I don't have an opinion yet. I have a wonderful group of kids (WAYYYY TOOO MANY OF THEM-39) but wonderful. However there is drama in a way that I didn't think would exist. The boys have wayyyyy more issues than the girls. I can't separate the bad from the bad in my room because.....there is no room. My students also know way less then I ever could have imagined. A 6th grader should be able to write a paragraph and know their multiplication facts, alas this group does not. There is no room (did I mention this yet) and no time to work with these kids in small groups or one on one. I have no idea what to do yet. The class is still self contained so I am teaching all subjects. I wish I could just work on one or two subjects a day so that they can practice an important element over and over until they understand. Bleh, sorry again I have no real opinion of this job I have always wanted and I am still not sure how to help these kids. (on the upside, their classroom management is almost spectacular and the other 6th grade teachers are envious)
Melody- Mama, I want to see nakedness.
Mama- You want to see WHAT?!
Melody- I want to see the nakedness
Mama- What? Please point to what you want.
Melody- points to my neck..Mama the nakedness.
Mama- Oh.....the necklace........

Lots of district arguments. At first I was going to teach 6th grade self contained classroom. 2 weeks ago it changed to classrooms swapping and I would be teaching social studies. Somewhere it did not get approved so now we are back in self contained as of one day ago. Bleh I wish these people would make up their minds so that I can plan! I will post pics of classroom soon!
